The Espresso High quality Institute (CQI), which runs the Q grader certification program for espresso professionals, is asking all espresso cuppers to take a brief abilities survey.

Open till Nov. 1 to Q graders and every other professionals who cup or consider espresso, the survey is designed to assist the nonprofit group consider the day-to-day actions and pursuits of working cuppers.

Its outcomes might be used to tell the nonprofit’s future curriculum and programming developments.

“This is a vital a part of the twentieth anniversary of the Q,” CQI CEO Michael Sheridan stated in a current announcement from the group. “We’re so pleased with our group and the function it has performed within the evolution of the trade over the previous 20 years. We spent 2024 celebrating that, and now we need to the longer term to make sure we’re constructing the talents that cuppers want for the subsequent 20.”

The survey is designed to be fast and straightforward, and is obtainable in a number of languages. CQI stated that the survey represents the “first section of an intensive analysis of abilities during which CQI is engaged.”

“The function of cuppers has developed considerably since CQI started our work professionalizing espresso tasters,” CQI Director of Training Companies Emma Sage within the announcement. “We need to make sure that our trainings embrace the talents reflective of what the trade wants immediately.
