Atlanta specialty espresso roaster-retailer Portrait Espresso is teaming up with Outkast on a limited-edition Stankonia Espresso to have fun the twenty fifth anniversary of the hip-hop duo’s fourth album, “Stankonia.”
The Stankonia Espresso launch got here right now with a teaser movie directed by Ray Neutron (on Instagram) saying a group celebration happening Oct. 30 at Portrait Espresso’s West Finish cafe.
“It’s an honor to collaborate with Atlanta legends Large Boi and André 3000,” Portrait Espresso Co-Founder Aaron Fender stated in an announcement shared with DCN. “This collaboration represents every part we love about Atlanta — originality, taste and group.”
The “Stankonia” album — that includes basic tracks “B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad),” “Ms. Jackson” and “So Recent, So Clear” — laid the groundwork for the collaboration’s emphasis on originality. The postures adopted by Large Boi and André 3000 on the album’s iconic cowl are referenced in shiny fuchsia-and-cream espresso packaging.
Departing from the album’s American-flag theme, the espresso embraces a extra Parliament-esque design with retro-futuristic illustrations. Portrait Espresso described the mix inside as “fruity, candy and juicy,” impressed by “Stankonia’s” duality — grounded in soul but futuristic in taste.
