Overview: KFC Mashed Potato Poppers

KFC's Mashed Potato Poppers next to a quarter.

KFC’s Mashed Potato Poppers function balls of mashed potatoes breaded, fried, and served with gravy for dipping.

A 5-piece order prices $3, however you may also get them as a part of the $7 Dunk It Bucket, which incorporates two tenders, individual-sized Secret Recipe Fries, and 5 Mashed Potato Poppers. I ended up going with the latter, which had a lid that held three dipping sauces and was stuffed with much more fries than an individual-sized serving.

The Mashed Potato Poppers are coin-shaped and jogged my memory of Burger King’s Tacky Tots in dimension, form, and texture of the crust. There was a good layer of crispy, fantastic breading on every Popper. Inside was a chunk’s price of clean mashed potatoes.

Sadly, the breading was fairly salty, which coated up the flavour and creaminess of the mashed potatoes. I believe a much bigger, extra ball-like form would have made for a greater style. Dipping the Mashed Potato Poppers in gravy added a much-needed dose of taste and richness that helped steadiness out the saltiness.

Taken altogether, KFC’s Mashed Potato Poppers had been simply okay for me. The textures had been good, however the style was moderately plain (aside from salt). The gravy helped although, and in addition went properly with the tenders and fries.
