Two long-running Canadian espresso firms are becoming a member of forces in metro Vancouver, B.C., as Artigiano is buying Richmond-based Salt Spring Espresso.

Artigiano, based in 1999 as Caffè Artigiano, stated the acquisition makes it Canada’s second-largest roaster of organic-certified espresso.

The Vancouver-based espresso firm, which presently operates 17 retail areas in B.C., plus one in Calgary, Alberta, not too long ago instructed Vancouver is Superior that it plans to develop to 30 cafes by the tip of June, principally in metro Vancouver.

Whereas Artigiano additionally gives direct-to-consumer espresso gross sales and wholesale gross sales, the acquisition of Salt Spring vastly expands its espresso choices. Primarily centered on roasting, with no retail cafes of its personal, Salt Spring has centered on environmental and social sustainability inside its espresso sourcing program. The corporate was the primary in Canada to deliver Regenerative Natural Licensed espresso to market.

Now based mostly in Richmond, Salt Spring Espresso was based in 1999 by Robbyn Scott and Mickey McLeod.

The monetary phrases of the acquisition weren’t disclosed.
