Ramadan month is the fasting month for Muslim before they celebrate Eid al-Fitr. Every year in Sydney, there is a Ramadan Night Market in Lakemba, which is the south western suburb of Sydney Australia. Although this Ramadan Night Market was cancelled, we went to check out Haldon St anyway. To our surprise its packed and full of Halal street food options that you must try here in Sydney.
We started the Halal Street Food tour trying the famous camel burger from”Ramadan Camel Burgers” at Broaster Chicken. They only serve camel burgers during Ramadan so this is definitely must try. If you are keen, they also serve deer burger, otherwise you can order normal beef burger or chicken burger.
Then, we cross the road to Ibby’s Seafood to taste a Lebanese dessert called knafe and Turkish coffee on sand from Afandi cafe stall. As Helmi said, knafe is one of the best type of sweets for Middle Eastern food. If that’s not enough dessert, we continued our food tour with Jalebi, a famous Indian sweets and street food snack.
Then a Lebanese Shawarma for only $5, quite a bargain. All the food here are affordable and its a good cheap eats options in Sydney and finally we ended the night by trying Sahlab, a Middle Eastern Milk Pudding from Syria for the very first time.
