bread and circuses | The Contemporary Loaf


In Switzerland the previous two weeks, I reconnected with the inspirational Ilya Flyamer to speak bread and circuses over lunch at Basel’s Markthalle (I am the man holding the pink Julian Zigerli goat hat within the picture.)

Sadly, we ate no loaves (although my Sri Lankan stir fry included hacked up flatbread) and the remainder of my journey featured heaps of polenta and no rye.

Earlier than heading dwelling, my companion advised I purchase Brot, printed in 2016 in Germany by Teubner.bread and circuses | The Contemporary Loaf
